toyotaIf you are looking for a car that combines a stylish look, an affordable price, and great gas mileage, look no further than the 2016 Toyota Prius. The vehicle underwent a makeover for the new model year, and its sleek design makes it more attractive than previous editions. Here are a few new features to get you excited about the 2016 Prius.

Gas Mileage

The Prius, one of the first hybrids readily available on the market, still has the same high gas mileage that made it famous. Using a mix of electricity and gas, the Prius Hybrid now gets 55 miles per gallon, which is slightly better than the 2015 model, which got 51 miles to the gallon. The car manages to save on gasoline via a four-cylinder, 1.8-liter engine. However, what it lacks in power, it makes up for with eco-friendliness.

New Design

Long known for its off-kilter shape, the fourth generation Prius has a stylish, updated body that is much more aesthetically pleasing than older models. It also has a slightly longer body, offering more cargo room and foot room than ever. Toyota has also ditched a modest-looking interior in favor of an updated dashboard and higher-quality, more comfortable seats. On the whole, the cabin’s makeover is on the same level as other similarly priced hybrids.

Affordability

Not only will the Prius save you money on gas, but it also comes with a reasonable sticker price. Toyota says the Prius’ base model will sell for about $25,000, putting it on par with similar cars on the market. Upgrades push the price closer to $30,000.

Options

Although it has yet to be confirmed, the Prius is rumored to have optional all-wheel drive, making it the first time in the car’s history that it’s had this option. With the flick of a switch, the Prius turns on an electric motor to power the rear wheels. This makes it an excellent option for buyers that live in areas with harsh winters. All previous options, such as a moonroof or premium stereo, are also available with the 2016 Prius.

All-New Platform

Under the body, the frame and platform are now made of a revolutionary new steel, helping Toyota cut Prius production costs by 20 percent and, thus, passing the savings on to the buyer. In addition, it has a lower center of gravity, making the car easier to handle and steer. The idea for the platform change stems from Toyota’s New Global Architecture, which is part of the company’s initiative to make cars with the same high quality, but at a fraction of the cost.

While Toyota remains secretive about some of the 2016 Prius’ other options and new perks, the car’s unveiling is right around the corner; it becomes available to buy at the end of December. No matter if you’re a longtime Prius fan or just looking to transition to a hybrid car, the new model adds a surprising mix of style and affordability that any car owner would appreciate.
