Check Out These 3 New Features of the 2018 Toyota Tundra - Charlotte, NCIt is no secret that Toyota builds great trucks. For more than 80 years, Toyota has been a leading vehicle manufacturer with a proven record of strength, dependability, and longevity by design. Considering 90 percent of all Toyota Tundras sold within the last ten years are still on the road today, it is no surprise that the Toyota Tundra earned the coveted Kelly Blue Book’s 2016 Best Resale Value award for a full-size truck.

Starting at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $31,120, the Toyota Tundra has been a trailblazer in its class since it hit the U.S. market in 2000. For the model year 2018, we expect to see a revitalized Tundra with a handful of new features that make this half-ton Toyota pickup a must-drive this year.

All New TRD Sport Trim

The Tundra has a well-earned reputation for off-road ruggedness, and this all-new Toyota Racing Development Sports trim level is a slightly milder version of the aggressive Tundra TRD Pro. Available in October, it slides into the line of Tundras quite nicely between the SR5 and the Limited models.

CrewMax and Double Cab models of the Tundra TRD Sport feature rear and four-wheel-drive, a set of Bilstein dampers, and front and rear anti-roll bars. The Tundra’s naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V-8 puts out a beefy 381 horsepower.

Exterior finishes for the TRD Sport include a new mesh grille accentuated by matching body color surround, mirrors and bumper. New touches include a distinctive hood scoop and 20-inch alloy wheels with black painted insets. The Tundra’s interior cabin will see a new gauge cluster design featuring a larger 4.2-inch information display screen.

Toyota Safety Sense-P

The entire 2018 Tundra lineup gets Safety Sense-P suite standard with technology based safety features like a collision avoidance system that uses an in-vehicle camera and radar system that can detect pedestrians can help avoid an accident. Audio and visual alerts tell you a collision is imminent. Brake assist will automatically slow the vehicle to lower the likelihood of an accident.

When an unintended lane change occurs at speeds of 32 miles per hour or more, a lane-departure warning will alert drivers. Automatic high-beams detect other vehicles and toggle between settings as needed, while the dynamic radar cruise control adjusts speeds when entering a red zone between you and the driver in front of you.

LED Headlights and Fog Lights

New for the 2018 Toyota Tundra’s upper trim levels, including The Limited, Platinum and 1794 Edition, is standardly equipped LED daytime running headlights, fog lights and LED tail lights. With a more pronounced signature and smoked chrome bezel, the new LED exterior lighting package really ups the Tundra’s visual appeal.

We are all excited to see the what the perked-up 2018 Toyota Tundra full-size pickup has in store for consumers. The Tacoma’s big brother, we can all expect a rugged and brawny truck, with exclusive sport styling, assembled right here in America.
