Approach your lease-end with confidence

You may be wondering "what happens at the end of my lease?" In the months before your lease comes to an end, you’ll receive several communications from us about your options and obligations. During this time, you can choose a path that best fits your needs and lifestyle. Choose from the following options to find out what to expect:

Choose a New Toyota

How to keep a great thing going-buying your currently leased Toyota

It's reliable, still boasts peak performance, and has been with you through thick and thin, so it's not surprising you may want to keep your Toyota in the driveway.

If you're ready to make your leased Toyota your very own, there's no need for a wear and use evaluation or extra mileage charges. In other words, you don't have to stop, simply follow these steps and get ready to go.

STEP 1. Determine your payoff amount.  View your lease vehicle's payoff information in your account, or give our lease-end specialists a call at (800) 286-0652.

STEP 2. Contact your originating dealer.  The Customer Loyalty Director at your leasing dealer will review the details of your lease agreement with you.

STEP 3. Choose your purchase method. Arrange financing through your Toyota dealer and Toyota Financial Services* or another financing organization, or purchase your vehicle by paying the payoff amount in one lump sum.

STEP 4. Estimate your monthly payments. Use the Lease-to-Purchase Payment Estimator within your account to estimate what your monthly payments may be.

Turn In Your Toyota

We've made returning your current vehicle straight forward with a few simple steps:

STEP 1. Give us a call before your lease ends at (800) 286-0652. Our Lease-End Specialists will review the details of your lease agreement with you, such as your originating dealer information and actual lease-end date. If we do not hear from you, we will contact you.

STEP 2. Assess your vehicle's condition using the Wear and Use Guidelines. Unrepaired damages that exceed normal wear and use may result in charges at the end of your lease. Review your mileage allowance to assess any excess mileage charges at lease end.

STEP 3. Make any necessary repairs. Your local Toyota dealer may be able to offer help with cost-effective repairs if needed. Making repairs upfront may save you a bill later on and may even be covered by your insurance policy. Be certain to keep all of your receipts for any repairs made and see your insurance policy for coverage.

STEP 4. Schedule an appointment with your originating dealer to return your Toyota vehicle.

STEP 5. Return your Toyota. Take your clean, lease vehicle to your Toyota dealership by the lease-end date. You will be required (by law) to turn in a completed Odometer Statement at this time. Remember to bring all keys, Owner's Manuals, and any original equipment removed from your vehicle to the appointment (cargo cover, headrests, spare tire, etc.). An independent inspection company will perform a final inspection after you turn in your vehicle.

STEP 6. Make any outstanding payments. Remember to cancel any electronic payments and pay outstanding lease payments, late fees, property tax and any other charges that may be due under your lease agreement.

Once your independent inspection is complete, charges may be due if your vehicle exceeds normal wear and use or mileage limits. TFS will send a final statement after the leased vehicle is returned.
