If you are planning to travel on your vacation by car then these tips are essential. Your buddies at Mint Hills Toyota in North Carolina have these tips to share to ensure a stress free trip. Remember to plan for the people you’re driving, be mindful of their ages, and their needs.

Plan your trip wisely

Avoid routes and highways with work sites. Any and all highways with construction will add time in the car. It is also prudent to avoid traveling through big cities if at all possible, because bigger cities bring bigger congestion, and bigger congestion bring car accidents, which brings rubber neck traffic and causes delays.

Plan ahead

Music will help pass the time and keep passengers calm and their brains distracted from the actual trip. Bring lots of drinks and finger snacks, as well as napkins. The more comfortable your passengers are, especially the younger ones, the easier the trip. Blankets and pillows are also recommended.

Plan for stops

If you have young kids in the car, then plan for pit spots. If you plan a stop every two to four hours you will find less whining, which will help the over all stress levels stay down. If you don’t have kids in the car, then you can avoid tourist trap sites, however they may serve as a nice break from the monotony of driving. Look at your planned route and plan for stops to refill drinks and snacks and allow for bathroom breaks.
