It is important for car buyers and owners to find a dealership that they can trust.  Dealerships aren’t any different than businesses you encounter on a daily basis; there are good dealerships and bad ones.  New Toyota Dealer NC is helping consumers identify trouble at a dealership.

10 Warning Signs at a Dealership

Always be aware of odd or uncomfortable behavior and practices when you are at a dealership or used car lot.

  1. Dealership sales personnel are hanging out in front of the dealership staring at you like a predator ready to devour its prey.
  2. The salesman you are working with leaves and a new associate comes over to handle negotiations.
  3. The dealership doesn’t give you control or dodges any specific questions and concerns you have.
  4. The prices suddenly change when you go to sign papers and the sales associate insists it’s the best they can do because the advertised price is no longer available or your trade-in wasn’t worth what they thought.
  5. The salesman is not considerate of your established car budget, and they urge you to bend your budget to get the car you want.
  6. The associate asks you to sign separate documents at a later time, but they back date the contract.  Backdating contracts is illegal.
  7. The dealership fails to inform you of license and registration fees, transfer costs and dealer fees that are lumped into the financed amount.
  8. A used car is sold as a “new” vehicle or the dealership claims to certify less than desirable vehicles.
  9. The dealership won’t provide you with a vehicle history report.
  10. If you feel uncomfortable or intimidated, don’t stay any longer.  Find a dealership that you are comfortable with and trust with your business.
