The Top 4 Summer Festivals in Charlotte, NCSummer is the season of festivals, and Charlotte has no shortage of unique events to enjoy. Take the family out to any one of these Charlotte festivals when you’re looking for an exciting way to pass the time.

Taste of Charlotte

With all the amazing restaurants popping up in Charlotte, it’s a challenge to make it out to every one. The Taste of Charlotte makes it easy by bringing dozens of restaurants to one place. Try over 100 food samples from Charlotte restaurants while enjoying live music and browsing craft goods from local artisans. Adults can get competitive during the festival’s cornhole tournament and Race to the Taste 5K, while children play on inflatable slides and bounce castles.

This 3-day festival will occupy five city blocks on Tryon Street from June 10 through June 12. Admission is free, but you’ll need to buy festival coins to use for food samples, drinks, and children’s activities.

Heroes Convention

Tap into your inner child at Charlotte’s annual Heroes Convention, a 3-day comic book convention held at the Charlotte Convention Center. Founded in 1982, Heroes Convention is the oldest independent comic book convention in the U.S. The convention features extensive exhibits of comic books and collectibles, as well as panels and workshops with comic book professionals.

Heroes Convention runs from June 17 through June 19. Attendees can buy day passes for $15 to $20, or a 3-day pass for $40. Children under 12 get in free at this family-friendly event.

Eats, Beaks, and Brews

Hosted at the Carolina Raptor Center, the Eats, Beaks, and Brews festival puts a unique twist on the popular combination of food, drinks, and music. Attendees of this festival can get up close to over 30 species of predatory birds during a night tour of the center’s Raptor Trail. This festival runs 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday from July 7 through August 11. Each week features a different food truck, local brewery, and live musician. Admission is $8 in advance or $10 the day of, and free for anyone under 20.

Bands, Brews, & BBQs

North Carolina is known for its barbecue, and there’s no better way to celebrate this Southern staple than at Carowinds’ first ever Bands, Brews, & BBQs festival. This festival will pair craft beers from across North Carolina with a delectable assortment of barbecued meats. After you’ve filled yourself to your heart’s content, kick back and enjoy live music at the Harmony Hall Patio Stage. Each night will feature two bands, and the lineup includes bluegrass, rock, and country music.

Located at Carowinds amusement park, the Bands, Brews, and BBQs festival will be held 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from July 31 to August 16. You’ll have to buy tickets to Carowinds to gain access to the festival, but you can enjoy the rides and attractions in between trips to the barbecue pit. Tickets range from $42.99 for kids to $62.99 for adults.
