Camping Spots near Charlotte, NCSpring is a great time to go camping in the Charlotte area. The weather is warm but is still brisk enough, and campgrounds tend to have fewer people so you can enjoy some quiet. There are several campgrounds that are family friendly and stay open all year, so you can enjoy camping at any time. Check out these spots to take a springtime camping trip near Charlotte.

1. Indian Springs Campground

Just about an hour outside of Charlotte, you’ll find Hickory Springs Campground in Hickory. This campground stays open year-round and offers full hookups for campers. All the sites have picnic tables, and you can get a site with a fire ring if you request one in advance. At Indian Springs, there is a catch and release pond for those who want to try their luck and do some fishing, and you can go tubing and kayaking on the nearby river.

2. HiddenNite Family Campground

HiddeNite Family Campground in Hiddenite, North Carolina, is just a short drive from Charlotte and offers year-round camping. This campground has 37 full hookup sites, along with tent sites that are located around the South Yadkin River. There are more than 30 acres of nature to explore, as well as small farm animals that the kids are sure to get a kick out of seeing. Plus, you can bring your own pets. The sites have picnic tables and fire rings, and the campground offers shaded sites. The kids can play on the playground, and the whole family can play volleyball or horseshoes.

3. Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort

The Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort is another campground near Charlotte that is open all year. You can choose from a variety of options, including fully appointed cabins, RV sites, and tent sites. Each site has a picnic table, and you can rent fire pits from the campground store. There is a bathroom facility with hot showers, and the swimming pool is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Spend the day relaxing by the fire or playing shuffleboard and cornhole with friends.

4. Yates Family Camping

Yates Family Camping in Harrisburg, North Carolina, sits within walking distance of the Charlotte Motor Speedway. This campground has 50 sites — 25 of them have full hookups — with tent camping only during special events at the track. While on your spring camping trip, you can drive into Charlotte to visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame or the PNC Amphitheatre. There is high-speed wireless internet at the campground and a small meeting room for those who need it. You can even bring your pets with you. All the sites are easy to access, and it offers pull-through sites to make it easier to get in and out.

Whether you have an RV or you are brave enough to go tent camping in the spring, there are many campgrounds located in the Charlotte area. Many offer year-round amenities, and without the summer crowds, camping in the spring is relaxing and fun.
