dogPets are normally not allowed in Stumptown Park when special events are taking place, but Pawsitively Matthews is a day just for dogs and their owners! On Saturday, November 15th from 10am until 4pm, bring your dog to park on South Trade Street for a fun-filled day sponsored by Jamison Realty.

Activities

There will be an agility course for you to try with your dog, along with demonstrations of dogs from the Matthews Police Department K9 Unit completing the course. Can your dog complete the obstacle course?!

Food truck alley will also be set up between the Masonic Lodge and Free Clinic so you can enjoy lunch or snacks. Don’t miss the beer and wine “Pawvilion” near the main stage. Pressly Animal Hospital will be on-site to provide rabies vaccinations.

Take your pup for a walk at 11:00am, with the Paws for a Cause 2k Greenway Walk.

If your dog knows tricks, compete in the Matthews Mutt Strut Best Pet Trick contest at 2:00pm.

Adopt a Dog

If you don’t have a dog, or want another, visit the park and the main stage. The Humane Society of Charlotte will present a dog parade of adoptable dogs at 12:30, while the God’s Grace Canine Rescue will present an adoptable parade at 1:30, and the S.A.F.E Animal Rescue will present a parade of adoptable dogs at 3:00pm.

Vendors

There will be more than 50 vendors set up across the park with dog-related supplies and services, as well as merchandise from other local businesses and event sponsors. A map of the park and the vendor locations is available online, at http://www.matthewsnc.gov/Portals/0/Departments/Parks%20and%20Rec/PAWSitively/PawsMapFull.pdf.
