If we could prepare ourselves for every situation there would be no such thing as “the unexpected”.   What we can do, however, is prepare for some of the more common situations that can happen when we’re traveling to minimize their effect on our lives.  Here are a couple things to keep in your car that will reduce stress in many common traveling inconveniences, from your Charlotte Toyota dealer:

Money or Credit Card for Emergencies

Even if you never expect to leave home without your purse or wallet and some money, you could find yourself without enough money at some point in your life.  You could be the victim of theft, or could lose your wallet – whatever the reason; you will want to have extra cash or a credit card hidden in your vehicle.  This will cover you in a wide number of situations that come up when you run out of money.  Just remember to keep your cash or credit card well hidden in the glove compartment, trunk or under the seat.

First Aid and Emergency Kit

Another item to keep in your car that will help you in a variety of unexpected situations is a first aid and emergency kit.  A basic first aid kit should include pain relievers, alcohol wipes, bandages, burn ointment, and allergy medications.  You may also want to keep road flares to alert people if your car breaks down; a blanket, a flashlight and a couple bottles of drinking water in case you need to wait for help or cool down an overheating engine.
