Your North Carolina Toyota Dealers want to remind you that the roadways are shared, with not only other drivers, but motorcyclists as well. A motorcyclist’s best protection is awareness. They are much more vulnerable to damage in an accident, which can result in severe injuries, if not death to the motorcyclist. Here are some tips you can follow to ensure everyone’s safety:

Drive Sober and Undistracted- It cannot be said enough not to drink and drive, but often overlooked are the not so obvious things you may do that impairs your driving abilities. Drive when you are well rested and don’t take any medications before driving unless you know how it affects you. Keep your cell phone away and silent. Do not fiddle with the radio while driving, wait for a red light or pull over. North Carolina Toyota Dealers supports safe driving.

Be aware – Keep in mind your car’s blind spots. Adjust your mirrors to minimize those blind spots.  A motorcyclist can easily be out of sight in one of your blind spots. You may also purchase accessories that may minimize your blind-spots further. Listen out for the hum of a motorcycle engine. Adjust your driving for weather conditions. Use your turn signals whenever possible. Using turn signals is maybe the easiest way of preventing accidents that is also the most often over-looked.

Following these tips will make everyone on the road a little safer, but especially motorcyclists.
