There is nothing worse than having your car break down, well except maybe the repair bill that follows a break down! Charlotte Toyota Service center wants to share some tips with you to ensure fewer break downs, and lower repair bills. These easy things will help make sure you’re enjoying your Toyota for many years and miles to come:

Know The Signs of Overheating

Once you get a feel for your car, you can get an idea of how hot your car will run. Peek at your temperature gauge from time to time to make sure it stays within that “normal” range. Check your fluids often, especially your coolant. Your engine coolant is, as the name implies, what helps cool your engine. If your gauge is raising this is a good indicator you may need to add more fluid. Keep an eye for smoke or steam coming from the hood, as this may indicate a bigger issue at hand.  Pull over and turn the engine off if you see smoke or if your temperature gauge continues to climb into the “too hot” range.

Check your Oil

Make sure to check your oil levels. You also need to keep up to date with your oil changes. Remember, the rule of thumb is between 3-6,000 miles, or every 3 months, which ever happens first. If you come to your local Charlotte Toyota Service center, you can ask for tips for oil change frequency.

Check your Tires and Brakes

Regular checkups on your brakes and tires may ensure longer tire life, and will definitely make you safer on the road ensuring you can stop when you need to. Keep in mind that weather plays a huge part with how much air will be in your tire. Check for nails and other objects that may have gotten caught in the tire and fix them whenever possible. Remember to rotate your tires every couple months to get the most life out of them.
These are just a few tips to keep you safer and lower your chances of breaking down. Stop by your local Charlotte Toyota Service Center for more tips and things to check for.
