2017 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Features in Matthews, NCThe Tacoma is Toyota’s compact pickup, a vehicle made for car buyers who want the open storage of a pickup truck but not the size of a full-size half-ton truck. As it is, the 2017 Tacoma carries a bigger payload than you’d expect from a compact truck, and several of the trim levels are perfect for off-road trips. The SR5 trim isn’t one of these since it falls more on the inexpensive side of things, but it does offer plenty of features for just $2,000 more than the base SR model.

The Infotainment System

The SR5 is only one trim level up from the SR, but the infotainment system alone gets a pretty big boost. The SR5 gets the same 6.1-inch touchscreen, but the software gets an upgrade to Entune Audio Plus, along with a connected navigation app. Both come with hands-free calling and streaming audio with advanced voice recognition, and both models have a backup camera for easier navigation. With the SR5, you can also listen to SiriusXM Radio and HD Radio.

The Star Safety System

Safety is a priority to Toyota. That’s why some of the vehicles have as many as 10 air bags, and it’s why the Tacoma comes standard with a pair of knee airbags, two more than the six required by federal regulators. It’s also why every Toyota comes with the Safety Star System, which integrates six electronic safety systems that work together. Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, the Anti-Lock Brake System, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, Brake Assist, and Smart Stop Technology all help you get from point A to point B securely.

The Deck Rail System

Most of the time, you don’t want your bed cargo to shift around when you drive. That’s why the 2017 Toyota Tacoma comes standard with the deck rail system, a set of rails built into the sides of the bed which you can use to adjust a set of four heavy-duty tie-down cleats. By moving the cleats around to where you need them, you can secure just about anything in your truck bed, regardless of the shape or size.

An Integrated GoPro Mount

GoPro is a special kind of camera that can take a lot of punishment and can go just about anywhere. It still delivers a remarkably smooth and stable video that you can upload to your phone or computer to share. People around the world areĀ using GoPro cameras to record things like reef diving, mountain climbing, ski trips, and off-road adventures. The 2017 Tacoma comes standard with a GoPro camera mount ready to use, but you’ll still need to buy the camera yourself.

Along with all the features that come standard on a 2017 Tacoma SR5, you can choose between an Access Cab and Double Cab, a long or short bed, a 2×4 or 4×4 drivetrain, and a four-cylinder or V6 engine. The SR5 might not have all the features available on a Tacoma, but it certainly has enough to impress.
