Set Your GPS Before Entering The Roadway

While using a GPS has become the norm for many drivers today, carelessly using a GPS can be a driving hazard. Trying to hook up your GPS or typing in an address while driving is definitely a safety concern. To avoid accidents you should hook up and set your GPS before leaving home. If you must reset your destination while on the road your best bet is to find a place to pull over.

 

Don’t Use Your Cell Phone While Driving

Everyone knows that using their cell phone while driving is a safety concern and yet many of us still check incoming texts, send texts or talk while driving. This distraction is not worth the risk. If you must make a call or answer a text, find a safe place to pull over.

 

Hook Up Your iPod Before Leaving Home

If you like to listen to music while traveling, make sure you are safe about it. Hook up your iPod or other MP3 Player before you hit the road. Having a play list that is long enough for your drive is also a smart idea.

 

Avoid Other Miscellaneous Distractions

Finally, while fiddling with your GPS, using your cell phone or trying to hook up your iPod top the driver distraction list there are other things you should also avoid when driving. This list includes such things as fixing your hair, applying makeup, turning around to the back of your vehicle to speak with your kids or other passengers, eating and drinking, trying to pick things up off the floor or handing items to other passengers. To be safe, avoid doing all of these things while on the roadway.
